One of the special treats during Fashion Week was the Mecca Maxima make-up bar and the Kevin Murphy Style Bar at City Square. Here you could get your nails done in different designs, choose from a range of lipstick colours and even get false eyelashes on, courtesy of the Mecca Maxima team. And if that was not good enough, you could also get your hair done, going from straight hair to curls and from flat to volume, and you could also get colour in your hair by using the Kevin Murphy colour bug. All of this thanks to the Kevin Murphy stylists, who are the responsible ones of the looks of the models during the runways. Read more after the break ...
Now, of course I went there! I got curls, I got hot pink on the tip of my hair, I got falsies (oh how marvellous it is to get eyelashes! considering that I have none), and got lipstick on. This was the perfect moment to try something new and get some advice from the experts. Since all of these was free, then it was no problem trying new things. If you don't like it, you wash it off and that's it. Oh but I have found that I want false eyelashes on now! And I confirmed, once again, that my hair won't ever like having curls on. My curls will go down quite fast, but at least this time they looked kinda wavy instead of totally flat, which I liked.
And if this is not good enough, there was also workshops scheduled from the Mecca Maxima and the Kevin Murphy team. Now, I was not able to go to the Mecca Maxima workshop, but I got to go to two of the Kevin Murphy ones, in which I learned that I can apply the blanket stitch to my hair as well. Oh yes, did you know you can sew your hair? Well I didn't, I was a fan of bobby pins, which I tend to lose quite fast (they go to this special dimension of the lost bobby pins) for any type of hair style. However, now I know that the best way to do so without using bobby pins is by using thread, sewing it to your hair and it will hold your hair even better, with no sign of it being there. Amazing or what?
We were also taught how to style a pony tail for the races (not headpiece required!) using hair curlers to give it a different look. Me like it. One important advice was that it won't come up nicely the first time we try. Probably not even the second or third. It takes practice, but the fact that we can't style it straight away the way the photo or model looks doesn't mean we need to quit trying. Good to know since every time I want to try to do something to my hair I end up losing hair. Yeah, that bad. So well, it just means I need to keep on trying, eventually I'll get it.
I recently bought false eyelashes and I want to get the colour bug because I love it. Oh! And also I want coral lipstick because it looks amazing and I was amazed that I still had it on after several hours. How about you? How would you style your hair or what would you have loved to get done?
