Hey guys!
So yes, we all have checked our calendars and we're all so surprised to see it's already October (although we have seen the last 9 months go by so we shouldn't be surprised). But yeah ... it is here. So for me this means I will probably start to get a bit mental, lacking sleep and overdosing a bit in caffeine. The reason? I have two months to finish my thesis. For those who don't know, I am a PhD student that somehow has the time to blog every now and then, attend events, go to the movies and take a bazillion amount of photos (that will later be needed to edit). So back to October, this means for me that now I will need to finish all of my experiments, process all of my samples, analyse all of my data, make sure it makes sense, understand it, and write about it drawing the most amazing conclusions. If you're following me on twitter you might find out that I tend to go on ThesisModeOn several times a day. And this is pretty much interrupted at a certain time of the day to twit about a TV show ... since all of the TV shows have just started again (are we still hating Shonda Rhimes?).
I'm going for holidays on the second week of December, which means that by that time I need to have my thesis already drafted and signed by every single supervisor I have and all of the postgraduate committee. So that means that I should probably give them my thesis by the first day of December. Which means that I will need the entire thing finished by mid November. Which gives me one and a half month. But one of the chemicals I need is not arriving till the third week of October. Which means that I won't be able to finish that experiment till end of October. Which means that I have two weeks to analyse data, put it together, do the final experiment and draw conclusions. Uhm... maybe I should stop writing this post now and open back my thesis document now.
Anyway, this past month has been quite busy but really nice. Let's not talk about the weather or the fact that is spring (although mother nature is in menopause with her moody winds and rain). But let's talk about the fact that Melbourne Spring Fashion Week was hosted again and that I had a desire to get every single goody bag available. Also the fact that I tested what it was like to have eyelashes (and I bought some falsies that I still haven't used because I don't want to waste them at a day in the lab). I met Mallory (from Cry Little Sister) and shared a cookie, and later on shared a bit too many glasses of champagne and wine. Besides, thanks to that girl I was able to attend the cocktail party hosted by Vogue after their runway in Chadstone. To add to the list, I decided to re-design the whole layout of this blog (tell me it's amazing, it took me a while to re-arrange everything!) and my facebook page. Also, one of the photos I took was photo of the week at Streets & People. Aaand, this girl that usually never wins anything, won a Typo giftpack thanks to Rachel from Little bits of lovely. I will consider that a pretty amazing month.
Now that October is here I feel like I'm losing my mojo! I'm participating in a photography contest by Melbourne Central, and winner of each category is selected according to their number of votes (anyone with a Facebook account can vote, so if you want to be my hero please vote). So I was first in my category. Until yesterday. A girl just submitted her photo and now I'm 30 votes short! And the last day of voting is tomorrow. And everytime I get someone to vote for me, she gets someone to vote as well. It was a pretty great prize, but unfortunately I can't do more (I've spammed all my facebook contacts, sorry guys!). Worst is, their voting system is quite long, since you have to like the page before the photo can be seen. And then you vote but you need to check that the pop-up window is not blocked otherwise the vote doesn't get counted. And on phones it won't work. So I've lost a lot of votes like that (I have 649 likes and just 63 votes because of that!). Anyway. Like I said, if you want to be my hero and help me with a vote go this link, like the page so that my photo can appear. I hope your October started way better than mine, I'm still in grief for the first episode of Grey's Anatomy. And I'm hoping this is not the last season of How I met your mother (yeah it might not be as funny as the first seasons but it's still entertaining). And I need to know what happens in Revenge. And sing to Glee. Checking on the life of the Upper East Siders and finding out who's Gossip Girl. Laughing at the New Girl. And finding out what's new on 90210. Dreaming about winning the Amazing Race. And learning about posing and photography thanks to America's Next Top Model.
Wait! This switch is broken because now I don't know if I'm thesis mode on or off. Non-sleeping and lots of caffeine. Madness kisses. Have a great and spooky month.
