I recently purchased Clinique's Anti-Blemish Solutions Clearing Concealer at my local Fennicks. There was a Bonus Time giveaway on with two purchases, and I couldn't resist. My first purchase was All About Lips, which I loved (review here) and this was the second.

I was really excited about this, as while I don't have as problematic skin as I used to, I still get an occasional doozie of a spot, and my break-outs are usually related to wearing thicker make-up, or having make-up on too long. Bit of a catch-22, as make-up causes my break outs, but when I break out I can't think of anything worse than going out with bare skin!
So a concealer that 'conceals as it heals' is my idea of a perfect product...

Check it out!

On the Clinique site it says that the:

Concealer helps clear and prevent blemishes. Gentle, soothing formula provides natural-looking coverage. In three skin tone shades including a green tint to visually correct redness. Oil free.

The concealer is £13.50 and at the time I thought the price wasn't too bad, if it did perform the miracle of clearing blemishes as well as concealing.

However, I no longer think this is worth it, mainly because it doesn't work as a concealer! It has very full coverage being very thick, but as a concealer it's worse than my £3.99 drugstore concealer. It dries instantly, not allowing any time for blending, and it dries very cakey and patchy. You can work with it to make it look acceptable, but really, should a concealer be that much work?!

Can you see the drying round the edges?
That happened 1 second after applying!!!

To be fair, it does work as an anti-blemish treatment. When I wear it over a spot, I see a noticeable difference in size and redness by the end of the say...but I also get the same results with other plain old blemish treatments.

With the Anti-Blemish concealer I end up mixing it with other cream concealers to get a nice results, so really, I don't see the point in this when you can use a blemish treatment in much the same way.

*sigh*...I really, really wanted this to work. A good concealer that treats blemishes at the same time (and doesn't just claim to do it) would be HG status for me.

Verdict: Save your money and buy a regular blemish treatment that looks alright under make-up.
