I've got a bit of drugstore loving going on today, so thought I'd feature one of my favourite drugstore lipstick brands - Rimmel :D
The two pink ones are Rimmel Colour Show Off lipstick and the purple one is Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick.
Check it out!
I've had these three lipsticks since University (I'm terrible at heeding expiry date warnings, but they're still exactly like when I bought them!!). I got all of them on a three-for-two offer at Boots at one point or another.
From Left to Right, Kiss Me, Soft Coral, and Shake-Up Pink |
The two Colour Show Off lipsticks are a very matte formula. The Rimmel website says:
Lip addictive formula! High-definition colour fix pigments for saturated full-bodied colour. ==> Colour has never been so concentrated ! Velvet appeal finish with Gemstone complex: soft cushion feel. ==> Unsurpassed colour richness in any light! Unrivalled Colour Show-stopping colours for day & night. ==> 100% Pure Colour Intensity
These are very very colour rich. One swipe is really enough to get a lovely colour pay off, and you can build these up too for very dramatic colours.
I no longer really wear Shake-Up Pink (a baby pink colour), as while I loved baby pinks in my early Uni days for clubbing, I don't think it suits me so well now, and I've developed far more of an obsession with reds and oranges.
You'll see in the picture too, that while these are highly pigmented, a downfall of the formula is that it's very drying, and can look a bit cakey on the lips (like caked-on make up, not like, just-eaten-a-cake ;D)
Kiss Me (a vibrant orange) is another story. I LOVE this colour. It's so so gorgeous. It's pigmented, but also can be worn on top of vaseline for a much more subtle version of the colour. I wear this out for a more glamourous night look, and sometimes during the day too, with no eye make up, for a pop of colour.
I wore this for a review of Clinique's All About Lips, and even though this can go a little dry and cakey, on top of All About Lips (or vaseline/lip balm...etc) it looks fine :D
My favourite of the bunch though is the Moisture Renew lipstick in Soft Coral.
The Rimmel Site says:
Moisture Infusion:
Innovative formula with 3 Super Moisturisers - Collagen, Polypeptides & Hyaluronic Acid deeply hydrates lips and improves their condition instantly and over time. Lips look and feel up to 70% more hydrated and up to 60% smoother - colour is maximised, all day long.
Ultimate Colour Indulgence with SPF 20 Protection:
Now infuse lips with perfectly luscious, luminous and richer colour: a wide & fine selection of perfectly blended, sumptuous shades. Caring colour complex of vitamin A, C & E, anti-oxidants and SPF 20 protects lips from everyday damage.
This is such a lovely flattering colour, the perfect mix of orange and pink, with a soft shimmer running through it. Like the name suggests, it's moisturising, so applies really easily and looks lovely on.
So there you go, three lovely quality lipsticks easily available from your local Boots or Superdrug, and at very reasonable prices.
FOTD with Rimmel Moisture Renew in Soft Coral :D
What do you guys think, Drugstore or High-End brands, which are better?
Emma
