Yo babes!
Just a quick post on the event I attended last Sunday to Tuesday, and the hotel I stayed at, Heythrop Park.
Jump!
The hotel itself was gorgeous - the main building is an 18th Century manor house, which looked absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we were staying in the far more modern Crowne Plaza Hotel, which, while still lovely, didn't quite appeal to my Jane Austen-loving soul as much as the manor house...I had such visions of frolicking in the parks and addressing people as 'Sir' and 'Madam'. On second thoughts, maybe it was for the best I was kept away :/
Anyway, here is what I was wearing for the event on Monday:
I know what you're thinking - what goes better with a lovely LK Bennett office dress than a goofy smile?
Nothing, that's what ;)
There were a series of seminars running for the PAs and EAs attending, and one of them was given by Miriam Staley, who was a contestant on the first series of The Apprentice. She's gone on to found her own company, MakeWaves. I Spoke to her shortly after the seminar, and she was so lovely and friendly.
I sat in on her seminar and was really impressed. She spoke about confidence, and how everything was based on beliefs i.e. if we believe we're not confident, we won't be, so we simply need to change our beliefs. I'm not explaining it as well as her, but it was quite empowering :D
At the end she handed out these little boxes:
Inside was a little microphone pendant. The tagline of her business is 'Make Every Word Count', so it's related to that (although I think it also ties into confidence, and speaking up).
On another note, I wanted to show you how I did my hair on the second day:
I've been experimenting with larger hair pins, and managed to pin up my hair really quite easily on that day. I never realised how quick and simple it was, and it stayed in all day! My hair is seriously unruly, so is always all over the place by midday.
(Excuse my tired face, there was a gala dinner and casino night that ran until past 1AM. Second night in a row with around 5 hours sleep >.<)
I used this tutorial to make this style.
