After posting about the April Glossy Box yesterday, I arrived home to find the May Glossy Box waiting for me!
As I was so happy with the April box, I tore this open, growing more and more excited by the pretty packaging, and by it being the 'special Anniversary edition'.
Oooh, it was so pretty, I loved the tissue paper. I opened it eagerly, expecting magic...and....oh dear.
Oh. Dear.
Oh Glossy Box, and you got off to such a good start too.
This month's Glossy Box was a major dud.
Everything else was there, the packaging, the hype, everything. But the products included were shocking.
Here's what I received:
Hmmm, anything standing out as a little surprising...?
Possibly the GIANT GLITTERY JORDAN-STYLE FALSE EYELASHES?
I don't even wear false eyelashes, and if I did they definitely wouldn't be these ones :(
What's worse is that after I looked through the box, I was so disappointed, I ended up googling the May box to see what other people thought. Turns out there's a massive disparity in price.
Some people got HD Brow products, which I am massively jealous of, and the most expensive product included from them is £29.95.
Others were a little disappointed with their £8.90 false eyelashes.
Others got these. The £3.90 eyelashes.
Obviously, there's a certain element of luck to these boxes, and I think with everyone sharing what they've got online, there'll always be *something* you wish you had instead of something else.
Nonetheless, you'd think the very least Glossy Box would do to try and combat this is keep the difference in price to a minimal.
These were the two 'freebies' we got in the box to celebrate the Anniversary. Quite like the mirror :)
Osmo Berber Hair Treatment (RRP £19.99 for 100ml)
This is a hair treatment containing Argan Oil. Looks nice, but it's bad luck as I was at an event recently where I was given absolutely LOADS of MorrocanOil products (more on this to follow) so wasn't too thrilled with this, considering I now have a full sized MorrocanOil Treatment, a similar tester size of Morrocanoil, and this too. I'm going to be one oily lady for the next few weeks...
Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath and Shower
This smells quite nice, but I can't shake the feeling of 'filler product' with this. And while the smell is nice, it definitely, definitely reminds me of hotel room shower gels. That same kind of borderline masculine scent...
Two Perfume Samples - Lolita Lempica and Si Lolita
Again, very bad luck with these perfume samples (although I'm not sure I'm even particularly fond of perfume samples in the box generally - surely you can get these for free at most department stores??) as I already own this perfume. I've got about a quarter of a bottle kicking around somewhere, as I used to wear it a few years ago, and stopped liking it.
The cardboard packaging is very pretty for these I guess....and the second perfume sample, Si Lolita, I haven't tried before. But I also noticed neither of these perfume samples are even completely full :/
The one redeeming product were these Apivita Express Beauty Pomegranate face masks. To be honest, they're not massive, but at the very least I'm quite excited about trying these. Haven;t heard of the brand, but the masks look nice, and hopefully will be good quality. And hopefully won't cause a reaction on my extremely sensitive skin....
Erm, this was just a bit of a fail box in general, made all the more disappointing as it was billed as being something special due to Glossy Box's Anniversary. Oh well, here's hoping the next one will be better.
