Hello my lovelies! Just a mid week pick me up with some beautiful packaging from Van Cleef & Arpels fragrance, Feerie!
Isn't the advertising for this just beautiful?
Now, I'd been entranced by this packaging ever since it came out (I have a bit of a thing for fairies, it's my inner child, it's, erm, more 'pronounced' shall we say than others...) but as it is a whopping £64 for the smallest sized bottle of EDP, I didn't buy it until really recently. I saw this Eau de Parfum Coffret, containing a full sized bottle of EDP, and the fragranced body lotion, on sale at Fennicks for £40!!! Absolute bargain :D
It was a set released for Christmas I think, and it was lurking somewhere in the back of all the fragrance sets on sale last February. I can smell a bargain within a 2-mile radius though, so found this pretty quickly after some rummaging.
Van Cleef & Arpels say:
Experience the enchantment of the magical Van Cleef & Arpels Feerie fragrance.
Inspired by the magical world of Van Cleef & Arpels, Feerie spectacularly asserts a bond with its jewellery. The same exceptional character, same poetry, same extreme luxury.
A pure object of desire, Feerie carries you away to an exceptional world of stars, butterflies and enchanted dreams. A fragrance infinitely feminine and precious: A floral woody scent.
A scent built around the ethereal violet, the eternal flower symbol of charm and poetry.
Isn't the description so nice? I don't think you can really ever describe a scent in words properly, but people come up with near poetry when they try ;)
The bottle is just exquisite. It's not the most portable, but c'mon, a bottle this beautiful isn't meant to be chucked in a handbag, it needs pride of place on your dressing table, possibly on some kind of pedestal, with extremely good lighting.
The bottle of the fragranced lotion is pretty too, although not as luxurious feeling as the bottle, being make out of plastic. Probably much more practical, but, as can be seen with the perfume bottle, there's always a time and place for beautiful, impractical products.
The lotion is really nice, light and moisturising, and fragranced well with the scent without being too overpowering.
The scent itself is just divine. I personally prefer oriental scents, and was worried I wouldn't like the lightness of this. It's the closest scent I've smelt that actually comes close to the written description. There's no other word for this than effervescent. It's floral and fruity, not smelling mumsy (which I always associate floral scents with), but almost like champagne if it was a perfume. Really light, and bubbly, and just...fairy-ish!! Haha, look at me getting all poetic...
Top Notes: Violet leaves, blackcurrant buds and Italian mandarin
Heart Notes: Violet, Bulgarian rose and Egyptian jasmine
Base Notes: Haitian vetiver and Florentine orris butter.
If you have the cash to splach, I recommend having a sniff of this. It's available at House of Fraser and Harrods, at £64 for the 50ml EDP, £54 for the 50ml EDT, and £34 for the 30ml EDT.
Feel Unique has a small discount on the 50ml EDP, selling it for £57.60, and you can find the set there too for £53.80, which is quite good as I think the original price tag for this was near £100!!
